Wolfe Scores Four Times in Win

BLOOMSBURG--Freshman Brieann Wolfe (Perkasie/Pennridge) scored four goals to lead the Bloomsburg University field hockey team past visiting Catawba College, 9-0, on Monday afternoon. The game was the regular-season finale for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg got on the board just 3:47 into the game when Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) scored unassisted. Wolfe then scored her first two goals just over a minute apart with Liz Macready (Denver/Cocalico) and Chelsea Due (Pen Argyl/Pen Argyl) getting the assists. Bloomsburg made it 4-0 when Heckard scored her second goal of the game in the 30minute.

Wolfe got goals three and four about two and a half minutes apart early in the second half for a 6-0 Bloomsburg lead with Due and Maggey Bloskey (Danville/Danville) getting assists.

Due scored once herself on a penalty stroke before Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock/Lackawanna Trail) and Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntingdon Valley/Lower Moreland) closed out the scoring in the final five minutes of the game. For Vanartsdalen, her goal was the 31st of the season, tying her with Denise Miller for the school single season record.

Bloomsburg, 17-3, will begin the PSAC playoffs on Friday at IUP with the Huskies facing Kutztown at 1 p.m.
